In November 2015, over 80 adventurous racers set off on the journey of a lifetime to commemorate Elephant Family’s late founder Mark Shand and raise vital funds for our projects. Racing 500km through Madhya Pradesh in the most Indian mode of transport imaginable – the humble auto-rickshaw – they rattled past erotic sculptures and abandoned palaces, through tiger reserves and beautiful rural scenes, before arriving at the finish line at Kipling Camp in Kanha National Park. There they were met by a very happy Tara, the elephant in Travels to my Elephant.
We are reaching ever closer to the Travels to my Elephant fundraising target of £1million net. This will help secure elephant corridors in Assam, North East India, allowing a vital population of 1700-1800 elephants to roam freely and safely. A huge thanks from Elephant Family and Quintessentially Foundation to all the wonderful people who have kindly supported Travels to my Elephant.
